Stunning Victorian brass and iron king size 5ft bedstead from probably the top maker of the time, R. W. Winfield and Son, London and Birmingham. A genuine Victorian 5ft wide built bed. The bed has a brass foot end and this is mirrored on the head end in iron and steel. This is an earlier bed. The steel is fixed to the cast connections by huge rivets, almost like ship rivets.

You will struggle to find a heavier more well constructed Victorian bedstead. This really is an amazing piece of Victorian workmanship. It is extremely heavy and is made of cast brass not the thinner spun brass. Everything about it is large and heavy. One leg weighs as much as a standard brass bed end or more. Ruputedly came from a large hall or Manor near london. It must have been a very expensive bed when new. It has a lovely mellow patina and the original gold and brown paint on the steel.
